The Shaftesbury Theatre Youth Group (STYG) is open to young people in Years 7-13 (11-18 year olds) and meets on Thursday evenings in term time between 6.30pm-8pm.
Why not come along and join us?
The weekly sessions involve script-based work and improvisation, developing the young peoples’ skills and confidence both on and off-stage. Company members are introduced to all aspects of the theatre including performance, set design, costume, lighting and sound as well as front of house responsibilities.
Productions are staged on a regular basis as part of the theatre’s season of performances as well as participation in local festivals and events. Recent performances include Arthur Miller’s The Crucible and Vivienne Kranzmann’s The It as part of the NT Connections ‘21 programme, in partnership with Theatre Royal Plymouth.
As members of the Company young people have access to the theatre space, the chance to watch dress-rehearsals of the current season of plays and plenty of performance opportunities! All led by trained and experienced DBS checked leaders.
Junior Membership of Dawlish Repertory Company costs £7 a year, which ensures the young people are covered by the theatre insurance, and there will also be a small fee of £1 per session. For further information please contact the Dawlish Repertory Company’s Chairperson at dawlishboxoffice@gmail.com
