Teignmouth Film Society: ‘A taste Of Honey’
Once again, we are happy to be hosting Teignmouth film Society for a showing of this epic film.
‘A ground-breaking and tender film’
Based on the play written by the 19 year-old Liverpudlian, Shelagh Delaney, the film confronts hard-hitting themes – teenage pregnancy, homosexuality, racism – with freshness and honesty.
Sixty years on, the film still packs a punch. Rita Tushingham is especially moving as the young Jo – spiky and rebellious but also unsure of herself and longing for love.
Controversial in its time, the film was nevertheless widely admired and awarded no less than 4 Baftas.
Doors (and bar!) open at 7pm for an 8pm screening and everyone is welcome. Tickets are only available on the door – so we hope to see you there
